Greetings and salutations one and all. Here is the latest with me. Finally moved into my new house and it's a wonderous thing having room for my things finally....However, there will be a garage sale and ebay sale soon for various odds and ends that I don't need anymore, such as some musical equipment, and some furniture, and assorted gadgets such as cell phones.
OK, on to more appropriate subjects: THE ITUNES PODCAST. I always wanted my own show to play with...and now I can do it! It's available as a giant mp3 here and on Itunes you can subscribe to the whole podcast directory...quite a lot of show, including mine which is:
nice huh? The show has a lot my music (what a surprise right?)....and I tell a lot about myself and I will be having the occasional guest with fun stuff going on as the show develops....in any case please check it out at ITunes or here....Andrew "drew" Gold - Mr. DJ!
I AM also planning a 4 album box set with 4 NEW albums...Yup it's a crazy idea, but you'll be able to buy each separately if you want, or for a huge discount, all 4 in the over title called THE BIG IDEA. What's inside is: A new pop album called SINGER SONGWRITER; A covers (doing my versions of other people's songs) album called COPYCAT, which has a lot of my Beatle Clones on it, and is all done; A half finished Xmas album (um, it will be finished when the box set comes out of course) which is called HO HO HO or HAVING A ZANY ANDY-CHRIST CHRISTMAS...I can't decide..lol....probably be the first choice...don't want to offend everyone on earth...; and the final fourth CD will be my film scores and experimental musical albums, filled with mainly unuusual instrumental cues. This is called NOTHING, DOESN'T EXIST.
I am continuing to make plans of a Byrds Of A Feather DVD to come out when we begin to make a return on the live show circuit in LA...which will be early in the new year, my best guess.
I am also continuing to think about a new ALL album, and A Brazilian retro record, in the Jobim/Gilberto Bossa Nova style which I've always found irresistible music, and very well suited to my voice, which very full of tone and good for soft voices, like mine can be....ala the singers of that type of music. I have a few songs in that manner, and will write new ones and do a few I like from other writers....like one of Brock Walsh's brilliant lyrical contributions to Dejan's music, such as "Miss Susannah". I suspect this will be what I do before the ALL, as it is currently more exciting me..but you never know...I haven't finished the 4 album set!! Maybe I have ADD..lol DDT? whatever it's called.
I just finished an album by ANA GUIGUI, some samples of which I play in my podcast and will be available here and at www,anaguigui.com. ANA is someone I met recently. She plays for CHRISTOPHER CROSS and she is a fine player, singer and a great writer. We wrote the lions share of the new album, and we both are very proud of it. It's called LOVE IS ON THE LINE.
FINALLY, I am working on another America Album of remakes of their hits, which is pretty hard to do....getting a modern recording to sound exactly like an old recording can be challenging, but one can learn a lot. Recently I've been doing a lot of stuff with them, from the Holiday Harmony Xmas album a few years back to the recent DVD of a live event that we did at the Ventura Theater in Ventura....it was a concert with a motif I had been toying with for years..which is the idea of a singer songwriters of the 70's doing a sort of has been palooza tour....or as Gerry Beckley called it, Snooza-Palooza, lol. It was me, Stephen Bishop, and America....and they intend on doing another, with Christopher Cross and others...But that night in Ventura was wonderful, the crowd was going nuts and it was all filmed for a DVD which should be out anytime now....ALSO, it has led to a tour we will all be doing in February in the UK....I CANNOT WAIT!! I miss playing live..I've even asked Paul McCartney if I could tour with him next time he needs more players....who knows...? But I really want to more of this....man oh man....
I guess thats it, except to say that we've finally found a way to keep the message board free of awful people, namely the EK one..but their were others...but the awful people have been dealt with, and the next message board I have will be like a guest book...where I screen the messages...no one will be able to talk directly to one another, which is a shame..but at least a sort of conversation will be able to carry on without bums like EK and the rest ruining it and then blaming me or whoever....Besides, I have blackmail photos and video of her should she SOMEHOW decide to try and ruin things again...so, hopefully she will be sane enough to realize that I mean it this time, as awful as I'd feel actually deliberately embarrassing her like that. But she's had about 46 last chances, so no one would say she wasn't warned, lol. So, happy days are here again...and let's hear it for Itunes, and please do us all a favor and think next time there's a national election so we don't have another disaster like this current president. My god, he's amazing, but in a tragic way....I think finally many of the right wingers are even complaining about the general foul-ups and lack of preparedness, lack of insight or foresight, and the utter callousness of this great fool. How he got this far is black magic...lol...I swear...
